Ok Here is the deal. I need some inventive ideas on where to scrounge up some materials for cheap or next to nothing... and I don't mean nothing as in go take aluminum street signs down...
I would like to find some aluminum sheets. I have a dremel and just about any other tool I will need to dismantle stuff so I just need some fresh ideas on where to find stuff. Old PCs would be nice to scrounge the pannels off. Size needs to be about 13"x12". Think tank GO!

Try going to a automotive body shop but that is mostly sheet metal. They might have some scraps they are willing to get rid of. But 13"x13" is a pretty good sized piece of aluminum. Or how bout going to a pop factory where they make cans. They also might have some scraps big enough. I only mention that because there is a Pepsi one here in town and Coors Brewing Co. is about a 1/2 hour drive from my house. Thats all I can think of right now.

There are lots of sweet old cases at businesses. So go to your mom or dads office and see if they have any left over computers. Gut em and see what you can use. Also I hear dumpster diving is great this time of year.

forget aluminum and make it out of 90% plexiglass or some other clear stuff.

I wouldn't recomend aluminium, I've welded it before, and its a bitch. If you heat the metal too much it turns gummy and falls in on itself. If you're intending to do this yourself plexiglass (like jesus said) would look sweet, and probably be alot easier. Just think, you could paint the inside a translucent color so their is a faint glow radiating out of the computer.

One... decent plexi costs a good bit more. Two, my grand father owned a metal workshop and so my father worked for him after school and knows a good deal about metal work. I don't plan on welding it. Blehh I do not want to have to go out and buy one of those extra tanks and connections to make an aluminum torch. I do have a hell of a rivet set though :) The main suports will be riveted together (because they will not be changed even if I mod it further). Then the rest is hidden nuts and bolts. Besides... I personally don't care too much for the PLEXI OUT THE WAZOOO cases. I like the silvery shinies :D
