what graphic settings are you playing at?

Tanaban
February 8th, 2003, 04:26 AM
Playing on a radeon 8500 @ stock speeds
still finding a sweet spot, but right now its 800x600 (I know I know but the unreal engine likes to beat the pooh out of radeon 8500s for some reason or another)
Every thing turned to the max.
It does get a little slow when there are too many up close and personal but I will find a sweet spot soon enough! B)

Kind of ironic when I say "That's just unreal", maybe because my 64mb OEM R8500 came clocked down and doesn't really impress much. You got the 128mb version?
Anyway, that just looks sweet, gota find a way to pick that up, maybe I'll get lucky and build a computer for somebody soon.....

nope I have the good old retail 64mb version. Got it about a year ago and suits me fine for now... untill mookie gets his dirty hands on Unreal 2 and out does me.

kick ass...kick ass...KICK ASS!!!

It's another feather in Epic's cap...it's got the same movie style as Unreal...there are parts where I feel like I'm watching a well directed action flick. Plus, it's damn purdy on my GF4 :P

good gawd you are the second person to say ... wtf is with the chair? ... ITS A FPS youre lucky to have a chair in it ;) It is really a large scene in a long level, so I guess they did that to cut down on polygons *shrug*

They cold have at least TRIED to make it look good. You've got awesome graphics, then you see that chair, and its like watching a beautiful stipper reveal a giant, hairy mole on her body. :o  it stands out.

It took me about 3 evenings of hard core nothing will distract me from the game kinda evenings and early in to the mornings. MOHAA took me not even half that.

Haysoos

MOHAA was fun, but it was short, i finished it in less than a week of off and on playing. Not even hardcore gaming, just playing every once in awhile. I should have bought return to castle wolfenstien. Right now I want a new game and im debating between an RPG and Unreal 2. The problem with RPGs is i like playing them, but get tired of leveling up and normally stop playing halfway through (looks at 1 1/2 year old lvl 28 barbarian), but FPS games usually dont have good replay value and end so quickly. Whats unreal 2's replay value? is it worth playing more than once?

I almost beat Max Payne in a night except I had to get some sleep because the next day was finals . Then my profile in WIn XP got corrupted and had to delete it. Quit playing until lately when I got the True Matrix mod and that has put some replay value into it.

I still havnt beaten Unreal2 yet lol, I dont play games aton, just like about an hour maybe 2 a day, if that lol. But i hope it isnt too short, i dont like short games much. But so far i do like it alot, only thing tho is i have to run it at 1024x768 without any AA on for it to not slowdown during big firefights. One down side is that you cant run any faster, so those missions where ya gotta defend get tedious. But overall i find it fun to play.

Yea, "technically" lol. Then again i guess that big metal suit gets pretty freakin heavy, so maybe he just cant run any faster with it on, lol.

Yeah the marines and baddies with the Exo type suits are even slower than you.

I got to the drakk homeworld planet, which BTW is awesome, and i was gettin to some good stuff, when the game crashed. It crashes on occasion so i restarted it, suddenly my saved games were gone, but i could still start each mission over that i had been to so far, so i tried that. IT crashed during load up. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, got an error during installation, so it didnt finish. Problem was i could NOT get unreal2 off my computer, even after deleting it from registry, uninstalling it, removing it, everything, it would not lemme install it again. SO i had to format my harddrive and reinstall windows just to play it again! SO now all my saved games are gone and all, so i gotta start over again. I think tho im gona try and cheat just to get back to where i was. I dont really feel like playing thru it again until ive beaten the whole thing. Plus I just got C&C generals today and i wana play that too, which btw it is an awesome game. (not that that means much coming from a long time C&C fanboy  ) So i still have a little while before i beat unreal 2 lol.

Mr.unknown
February 14th, 2003, 02:52 AM
I also might get Unreal two If I actually have a half decent card. I mean as you all know that game has hella high system requirments and I want to only play that game at really high detail settings. Not some stupid low resolutions and 16bit color with no AA.

So now you AND K ar going to prove the blindness by fapping bit huh? :D

(w00t) OMFG!!!! The game is incredable, definetly worth the $40 I shelled out for it. Screenshots alone just don't do this game justice. You've GOTTA play it to fully comprehend the total level of awsomeness this game is elevated to. (ok, so what if the last game I bought was Madden 2003 for PC, anything would get me this excited after playing THAT)

with all those good graphics, they give you a great scene with primitive chair *sigh*. I like longer games, I play RPG's a lot, those are my favorite types of games. They have great strories, and they don't get finished in 1 day.

Unreal 2 I bet is long if you do just about every single thing.
In my opinion what makes a FPS good is not how long it is, it's if it gets you on an adrenaline rush just runnin shootin dodging doing crazy stuff(in the game of course).

Haysoos
February 19th, 2003, 04:03 AM
I agree with with the adrenaline rush, but i want longevity. I like a game that, when you beat it, you can play it again and it still feels new cause its been so long since you played the first level. A game that can be beat in a measure of hours rather than days is not too fun...

Mr.unknown
February 19th, 2003, 11:45 PM
Thats why people combined the FPS genere with the internet= Ages of Fun.

Well I got the game today it is just amazing. It took less than 12 hours to beat, sigh another game I got an beat in the same day. All I can say is wow what an ending, thats one of the best endings in quite a while.

Smithmeister
March 2nd, 2003, 02:34 AM
Yea, was a good ending. The story (or should i say presentation of the story (kinda shallow)) wasnt all that interesting until the last few levels, after you get all the artifacts. From there the story got really interesting and emotional (lol).
