Hey guys got some greens and want to buy a new processor and Motherboard.
What I kinda have in mind is:
3 DDR slots,
AGP Graphics, i have Radeon 8500 DV don't know if i need 8x
http://www.smksuperstore.com/90/listproducts.htm Is it worth going from the Athlon Xp 2100 to the 2200 or is it just a waste of 50$, should i even be getting this processor???? any help would be great just want new motherboard and processor i haev everything else i need.
I already have a 100GB Western Digital Hardrive, I want to say that it runs at ATA/133, dun know if this matters.
Want to pay around $100-$160 for the motherboard, I really don't want to go over 160 less it's a bad arse motherboard.
Also i got 2 sticks of 256 DDR pc 2100 memory.
Thnx,
Merry Christmass

well since you already have two sticks of the same ram... I would suggest going with a motherboard with the nForce2 northbridge. Made by nvidia, has built in graphics, but you already have a better graphics card. The reason I would suggest it is that the way the memory is set up is in a dual (or pair) configuration, which basically means you get twice the memory bandwidth. Very nice. Not only that they are new. So they have the AGP 8x, the fire wire, USB 2, the 5.1 on board sound stuff, built in NIC, the ATA 133 and serial ATA as well.
Here are some ASUS mobos that have the nForce2 chipset:
There is the deluxe which has everything and a half: Asus A7N8X Deluxe nforce2 (http://www.googlegear.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=240272)
And then the stripped down version:Asus A7N8X nforce2 (http://www.googlegear.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=240273)
This doesn't mean ASUS is the only one that makes this type of motherboard, but they are the manufacture I stand by and trust with my equpment.

I do have one suggestion. Take the time to register here at our forums and stick around for the fun. There is some stuff unregistered users never see.

Why would you want an out dated chip set? Besides it's Form Factor is a MicroATX. Did you notice that?

I also stand by asus. I have heard great things about the A7N8X. It pretty much has everything you could want in a motherboard.

Ya, ASUS makes some great boards :D. I've only had one problem with a defective A7V333, but that was probably the retailer's fault :P.
