Can someone list the requirements to play BF2? I want to make sure my comp can play the game before I go get it. It would be a waste to get it and then not be able to use it :P.

If my comp can handle it, I'll be joining the server as soon as I get it (not sure when that would be, but before the end of the year I'd imagine).

I play with a:

P4 2.4Ghz
Geforce 6600 256MB
512 DDR466 RAM

The loading screens are kind of slow with 512, which is why I'm upgrading to 1GB. The main issue is probably if your graphics card is shader version 1.4 capable. BF minimum requirements lists this as "ATI 9500 and above or nVidia 5200 and above."

I have a 5200, so that's the min req. Everything else is above that.

Although, maybe it's time to upgrade that anyway...who knows.

Thanks for the info guys.

If it says 5200 minimum....sorry, unless the games supports 640x300 resolution, you dont have a snowballs chance in hell of running it at any acceptable frames, my 9600xt @ 800x600 starts to struggle running the damn demo, so good luck trying to run it without dropping any $$$

I always expected great sayings from you! :P

Your processor will push it (barely) but your video is going to be severely handicapped.

No matter - there is still CS to play. Remember - Today is Tuesday!!

>_< Voo, had to add this: doubtful a " snowflake's " chance of things happenin' with that dinosaur!!!

my old Athy1900+ would run it --- but if you ever complained about "Lag" in CS,,,, well, 'nuff said,,, try upgrading card and Ram.

but if/when you get into it you'll have a hard time getting out of it.

start donation for Voodo titanic?!?!?! :dunno:

No disrespect, but I remember playing CS 1.5 with my old 8mb ATI rage...doesnt take a helluva system to run that game...

At any rate, not a bad idea, I know I'll have a few extra GPU's laying around here...including my older 9600xt (I'm trading my x800pro for a 9700pro and a brand new venice 3200+).... so If I end up not using the extra fans, RAM, and GPU.....voo, I might be able to Fedex you that stuff, of course you'll have to play @ 1024x768 with everything low.... But it would work.

Voo not everyone there is freaky, and especially not everyone is old. :meh:
You should try to play it sometime if the hardware becomes capable. It is a fun game.

Well I guess between everyone here we could start a thread of extra hardware and what not that we dont use.
When I think about upgrading my system I think of what I can reuse..if pc 2100 memory is the fastest you can use, I guess its up to buying new ram, but a new mobo at the same time.....you will spend and extra 100 bucks at the same time, however it is worth it, thats what I did when I bought my new processory..new mobo and reused everything else.
I went with a new chipset thats why.....but if your gonna buy a new vid card....if you think about it....step into a new mobo, memory and vid card at the same time, sometimes you can find good combo deals....newegg is awsome.
You could stil reuse your hard drive and cd rom drives anyhow.....thats a plus...reuse your sound card or have decend intigrates sound card.......just make sure you dont have intigraded video.....that is horrid.
So if you have a little bit if patients...then give it a good thought of what would be better in the long run. Computers are about outdated every 3 years....up grade yours to last you another year....all this new technology will drop..and you can have a dream system of today...tomarrow....for 1/2 the price.

I hope it makes sence.
