Goddamn DVD ROM

The damn thing is telling me that it isnt detecting a DVD disc in the drive. It is fine with CD's but wont even see the DVD, just telling me to insert a disc into the drive. Grrrrrrrr. Anyone any ideas?

do you have a decoder? if not you need to install some kind of software... if not then you're fukd. Watching dvds on a computer sucks anyhow... because about halfway through the movie you have to wait for your computer to load the rest of the dvd into cache... which ruins the movie.

Is it doing the same thing it did when i was at your house and it was playing up after you got your new graphics card?

Something simliar happens to me, and I have to restart the machine to fix it some times... <_< but then again me and my creative DVD rom never got along real well :angry:

Nah it was working fine just recently. I have a nagging feeling it has only started since I got my new mobo but I'm not sure. Arse. I'm gonna have to have a fiddle... or worse still reinstall my decoder card. I only use it for DVD ROM discs on magazines and for watching special features on my movies...
