BSD help

What settings do I have to have so set Win xp pro a BSD server can comunicate through LAN? The reason being is that my Dad brought over some linux BSD servers and is trying to get them to communicate with the computers he has running with win xp pro. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure you have the right protocals installed on both machines, also Samba, is a nice thing which is basically a network neighborhood emulator for linux.
