View Full Version : How many fans you got?

Well? and what are they for?

me, I currently have 4 fans, 2 in the PSU, 1 on my graphics card, and one on my heatsink. I am replacing the heatcink with a quiet heatsink combo, and I may as well have to replace the generic bran PSU because its fans are loud. I have no case fans, but I leave my case open.

Oh and the PSU almost completely blocks my heatsink fan, there might be <half a cm of clearance between the two.

PSU and Heatsink fans only. I used to have an exhaust til I put it into my sister's Hewlett Packerd POS power supply because the fan died.

I have 5 total. 1 on my R9700 PRO, 1 80mm generic Antec case fan (35 CFM, 38DBA, intake), 1 on my heatsink (80mm, 24CFM, 21DBA), 2 in my PSU (antec 350w base model).

Funny thing is, its about the same temps as with my Vantec Areoflow with an extra 80mm exhaust fan.

Ive got 6 total. Two case fans, two PSU fans, one on my video card, and one on my CPU. My other case has 7 case fans alone but im saving that for my next rig. BTW everyone prepare to be flamed by DB :)

-->Two 36CFM 80mm front intake fans. These blow right across the HDD cage, which is very good for cooling. I credit this, in part, to my hard drive's longevity.

-->Four 36CFM 80mm rear exhaust fans. Two next to the CPU, two above the PSU. Get the heat out! Both from around the CPU, and for top-side PSU cooling.

-->Three 55CFM 80mm side intake fans. These blow right at the CPU, Northbride, and GPU. I'd wager these contribute at least 7C to my temps.

-->One 69CFM 120mm blowhole. If any heat ever gets to that high in the case, this guy will take care of it.

-->Two generic fans in the PSU These are brand-X models, but they keep the PSU cool and the juice flowing. One sucks up hot CPU air. I've taken the grill off of this one to improve airflow.

-->84CFM CPU fan. This Sunon is responsible for forcing air through my MCX-462+ heatsink. Because of the high pin density, even this jet engine has to work to keep the air moving.

Add the Northbridge fan, a copper Iceberq with AS3, the GPU fan, which is the stock one :( , but equipped with AS3, and the Southbridge fan, a generic chipsink from the Iceberq kit with an old 80486 CPU fan bolted to it, and attached to the chip with ASA, and you have 16. All told they push around 600 CFMs.

9 in total.
5 case fans: 2 at the front, 2 at the back and 1 on the side. All 80mm stealth.
2 in the PSU. 80mm.
92mm fan blowing onto the cpu heatsink.
92mm fan blowing onto graphics card.
And with the turn of a couple of knobs I can make them all very quiet.

Tote here,

I would like to say that I have 5 fans in my case, on in my Antec Blue 350 W PS, 2 80m case fans (front and back), 1 on gef 4 vid, and the standard Intel fan on the CPU.

This is obviously not enough since the mobo monitor says I'm running steady in the 90 degrees F range, which I think is way too hot for a P4 2.4C.

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm right, who the hell knows????

What heatsink? The CPU? Note the 92mm fan.

2 On my Enermax 460w PS
1 On my vid card
1 On my CPU - Vantec Aeroflow

I get case temps of 35 and cpu temps of 42, with AS3. I have a Chieftec matrix style case, the silver one.
