I'd say the number one reason to use Linux is that there's a significantly smaller chance that the major distributions are bugged with secret backdoors that allow easy remote access. Also not nearly as exploitable as Microsoft products.

This means that when Big Brother, or Bill Gates, decides to check up on you, Linux would keep your data from being assraped.

There are also no viruses for linux, at least none that I have heard of.
