"the card [Radeon 9700] will have external power connector since it will need more power than AGP 2.0 can provide. We learned that AGP 2.0 can deliver 40 watts so this card will therefore need more than that." (Fuad Abazovic The Inquirer (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=4431))

"The Radeon 9700 will have new feature called VideoShader. This will use the pixel shader unit to accelerate MPEG video, but it won't have support for MPEG-4 decoding or encoding in hardware." (Fuad Abazovic The Inquirer (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=4431))

Oy...

"ATI and its board partners will have RADEON 9700 series products available in August. ATI's retail product will ship with 128 MB DDR memory, DVI-I, VGA and TV-out display connectors with a suggested retail price of USD$399."

How much do you think it'll be by christmas time?

Same . The way I see it, the price on a current chipset only drops when a brand spankin' new one is rolled out.
