I havent talked to Voo or Totey yet (Tote I need your e-mail) but we can get scrims going anytime. IRC is a must in order to communicate and organize. If you dont have it you need to get it. The IRC THE channel is open 24 hours a day, like a cafe. Some people even idle in it all the time. Its invalueable when putting together scrims and practices. You cant expect to all jump on the THE server to discuss match ip's or strats or whos in for scrims and the list goes on. You also cant use MSN or AIM to talk either. IRC alows everyone to talk together. Heres 2 examples.
NO IRC:
Theres 6 or 7 players in THE server. I say lets get a scrim. Then I have to jump out and get in the IRC scrim channel. I get a match together and it takes about 2 min. Now I have to wait 8 min to get an open spot in THE server to jump on and message everyone theres a scrim. We all go to the server with the ip I provided. Except Digger. We wait now this is 18 mins past when I got the scrim, in realtity the scrimmin team would have left after a 4-5 min wait but for the sake of argument I will pretend they wait around. Digger wrote down the wrong ip, but we dont know that. So Digger reconnects to THE. I try and find him. I see him on THE and wait 4 mins for and open spot. I get in and give him the proper ip and we go to the server. Its now 30 min from when I got the scrim up.
WITH IRC:
I jump in THE IRC Channel. Theres 13 people on and 6 are THE members. 1 of them doesnt answer the page because shes shopping right now *cough Gunbabe cough* (shes in idle mode). But theres a couple regulars from the server and one of them wants to fill-in. So I take 2 mins grab up a scrim. I IM the ip and pw to the players in IRC. We go to the server while we idle in IRC (stay connected in the channel) We all get there but Digger is missing. We wait 2 min, Digger got the wrong ip but he jumped back in and he either a. opened the pm and got it or b. someone on there sent it to him. In 5 mins total time we are scrimming. After the match which is 2 rounds of 12 one on each side we jump out of CS and back into IRC to discuss what happened. I get another scrim with one of 5 billion other clans or whatever.
This is why it is important to use IRC. Its scary at first, but becomes very fluent once you get used to it.
I need those e-mail addys so I can e-mail peoples.
