View Full Version : Modding a decrepid case

I have this old case thats just sitting around, and I wana do something cool with it. With like little to no money. Forget about lights and stuff im just talking about painting and window shapes and stuff. I have the tools to cut holes and stuff, and i got extra plexi-glass i can use for windows, and plenty of paint to use, but im not sure what to do with it. Ive also got a 92mm case fan modded into the side APPROXIMATELY where the black circle i drew into it is, so i gotta take that into consideration. But i was just wonderin what any of you guys thought I should do with this old case, its quite disposable so i dont care how radical your ideas are i'll try pretty much anything with it to make it interesting.

Here's my two cents on painting the case:
I think that flames extending from the 92mm fan to the back of the case would look kind of cool.
Or you could paint the ridges on the front intakes progressively darker colors. Look at the pic to see what I mean. I used red, but you could use bl00, purple, or whatever other color you like.

lol, very nice editing job on that pic. Well the fan controller and the fan grill would cost money :o so i probably wouldnt do those, but that paint job and window is quite interesting, and i like the flames-behind-the-fan-grill thingy too. With your idea AMG tho with the red stripe going across the 5 1/4" drives, if i had drives in there i'd have to paint them too to match. I'll wait to see some more peoples ideas and then decide somethin.

Nope.
I would totally do AMG's design though.

Hey! It's my job to say that and j00 know it! Could use a couple more 92s though. Make sure they're the 119CFM 92s.
Now hows this for a hot CPU: My AXP 2100+ is overvolted from 1.6v to 1.95v, and is overclocked from 1733 MHz to 2400 MHz. The heatsink is a Swiftech MCX-462+ with an 80mm Vantec Tornado (84 CFM). Two front intake 80mm fans in the case, 3 side 80mm intakes, 4 rear 80mm exhausts, and a 120mm blowhole, in addition to the PSU fan. Now comes the hot part: Temps are 45C idle, 50C load, and the air exiting the blowhole is noticably warmer than the ambient air, which is 18C.

I'm not sure whether to take this as a compliment or a veiled insult.

No I actually like the design on the pin based HS that Swiftech make.
That and they are compatable with socket 423

You see, we're not all against you. You got a complament out of Tan (once in a lifetime occurance there), and if you just thought a little more highly of yourself you would have realized it.
