Just a little more proof that Billy is scared of linux and willing to do anything to dominate the software market.
Is this screwed up or what?
Ayala's (MS's top sales exec) e-mail told executives that if a deal involving governments or large institutions looked doomed, they were authorized to draw from a special internal fund to offer software at a steep discount, or free, if necessary.
The memo, which focused on system software for desktop computers, specifically targeted Linux, a still small but emerging competitor. "Under NO circumstances lose against Linux," Ayala said.

Summary:
In a move that is bound to humiliate many people who take things too seriously, Microsoft announced that it has purchased Linux today. When asked for comment, Bill Gates was heard to say, "Now let's see them say something bad about me on Slashdot." AMD said the news will delay Hammer by another year, which will put it right on track with where the company hoped it would be.

You need to read more /. (http://www.slashdot.org), there are articles on this almost daily. Either way SCO doesn't have a case. Billy can buy SCO, but they'd be pretty much useless to him as they own no trade secrets to Linux when they open-sourced it (duh).

Interesting, SCO is sueing IBM for using linux with unix code.
SCO added the unix code into linux themselves, thus making it fair game to the GPL and abandoning their rights to those lines of codes. Hell, SCO doesn't even own unix, Novell does.
Bottom line
SCO is ticked off at IBM because IBM saw a future in linux because of reduced cost and increased reliability so they breached contract and ditched SCO. I'm sure SCO can sue for breach of contract, but anything beyond that is BS. SCO is threatining Linus and all the linux users, I see SCO getting hacked into ruins day in and out for a long, long time. :D
Because of liscensing fees almost as bad as MS's, unix is a dying breed of an OS. SCO doesn't want to see this, so just like a drowning man, they'll take as many of the others down with them in futile attempts to get those last breaths of air. All of us are going to sit back and enjoy watching the basterds drown.
But.....
In a world an idiot can spill coffee on herself and sue Mc Donalds for it, you'll never know what'll happen next.
