Here is a link for a round cable at Newegg.com . I was wondering if it is only for floppy drives or if it can be used for like the hard drive, and cdrom drives. They are the same cables arent they?

Well, you'll notice that there are some cables labeled "Floppy" and some "True ATA 133." If you use floppy cables on your hard drive you'll be in huge trouble (assuming they even fit in the appropriate slots). You can use the "True ATA 133" cables on your CD-ROM and Hard Drives, even if they're not ATA 133. And, of course, the Floopy cable on your floppy drive.

Reason being the floppy cable has a twist in it to help your computer tell the difference (I think...).

Floppy cables and IDE cables are totally different. Different amount of wires, different size plugs etc. Easy to tell apart.
